If Christ is truly all that we say, then Charles Spurgeon concludes ....
"Ah Christian, ring the bells of your hearts, fire the salute of your most joyous songs, 'For unto us a child is borm, unto us a Son is given.' Dance, dance every one of you! Oh! All my nerves become harp strings and let gratitude touch you with angelic fingers! And thou, my tongue, shout- shout to his praise, who hath said to thee- 'Unto thee a child is born, unto thee a Son is given.' Wipe that tear away! Come, stop that sighing! Hush yon mourning. What matters your poverty? "Unto you a child is born." What matters your sickness? "Unto you a Son is given." What matters your sin? For this child shall take away, and this Son shall wash and make you fit for heaven. I say, if it be so, "Lift up the heart, lift up the voice, rejoice aloud! ye saints rejoice!"

Thank God For The Election Results
in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NASB
Dear Christians
No matter how the elections turn out, we must be ever mindful that God is in control and that His purposes will be accomplished.
Therefore be thankful that ultimately God will work all things together for His glory. Be thankful that His will is not determined by what propositions pass or fail. Be thankful that His purposes are not determined by who holds office in our country. Be thankful that whatever happens, it has been permitted by an all loving, all powerful, all knowing God.
Our command is to be thankful in everything. By being thankful you will be doing the will of God- which is what we all say we are seeking to do.

A Puritan's view of justification, a.k.a. "a biblical view"
Taken from the book, A Quest for Godliness by J.I. Packer
1. Every man faces the judgement seat of God, and must answer to God for himself. The church cannot shield him from this.
2. Every man is a sinner by nature and practice, a nonconformist so far as God's law is concerned, and therefore can only expect God's wrath
3. Justification is God's judicial act of pardoning the guilty sinner, accepting him as righteous, and receiving him as a son.
4. The source of justification is grace, not human effort or initiative.
5. The ground of justification is Christ's vicarious righteousness and blood-shedding, not our own merit.
6. The means of justification, here and now is faith in Jesus Christ
7. The fruit of faith, the evidence of its reality, is a manifest repentance and a life of good works.

About Me
- Soli Deo Gloria
- I have long enjoyed reading sermons, theological works, treatises, polemics, and commentaries from the Church Fathers, Reformers and Puritans. Although these saints have passed centuries ago, their wisdom continues to minister to all those who take the time to listen. Their dedication to the study and exposition of the scriptures have encouraged, challenged, and provoked me to take serious my faith, my teaching, and my walk with God. I pray my devotional blog seasoned with ancient wisdom will do the same for you.
